Find answers to common Straighttalk questions below.
BYOT stands for “Bring Your Own Tablet.” With Straight Talk’s Bring-Your-Own-Tablet program, you can get Straight Talk service for your current cellular tablet as long as it’s:
You can obtain service by visiting our website at stbyop.com.
Our website will address this based on your tablet’s compatible carrier. If you don’t know the tablet’s compatible carrier, go to stbyop.com and select Check Compatibility.
If you have an AT&T or T-Mobile-compatible tablet, you will ALWAYS need a SIM card. Verizon-compatible tablets ONLY require a SIM if they are LTE capable.
There are two ways to obtain a Straight Talk BYOT SIM card:
Go to our website at stbyop.com and select Activate. Select I Have a SIM Card and enter your new SIM card number. Be sure to specify that you want to keep your current phone number.
Note: On some tablets, the phone number may be referred to as the cellular number.
If you are not sure which SIM card to use, please visit our website at stbyop.com. From there, select Check Compatibility and follow the steps to determine which SIM is correct for your tablet.
The compatibility will depend on which carrier your tablet is compatible with as well as the SIM card size your tablet requires. If you have an Unlocked GSM tablet, you can use one of the AT&T or T-Mobile SIMs. Some Unlocked GSM tablets can also be activated with Verizon, but please be sure to confirm this beforehand.
In order to obtain LTE service, your tablet must be LTE-capable and compatible with AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon. We cannot guarantee LTE service for all unlocked tablets or for older-model, carrier-issued tablets.
If your tablet is CDMA LTE-capable and your BYOT Activation Kit did not include a CDMA LTE-compatible SIM, please call us at 1-888-428-7223 and we will ship you a new SIM.
